2008 Outdoor Cinema Series

Greenstone is the Inland Northwest’s largest builder and developer and we are proud to offer our 2008 Outdoor Cinema Series. This will be the first year that we are able to offer this series in five of our Master Planned Communities. Greenstone has sponsored the cinema series at Pavilion Park in our Meadowood project at Liberty Lake for the past ten years. We are excited to be able to bring this amenity to some of our other communities. We will be looking to expand this series in the next few years, so we will look forward to seeing you at the movies. Greenstone Homes & Neighborhoods is profiled in the 2007/08 Go Green Guide, a resource directory to identify and contact local area sustainable businesses. As an Energy Star builder, a LEED Neighborhood pilot project, and eco-conscious external and internal landscape designer, Greenstone’s neighborhoods and individual homes are consistently being upgraded to leave a smaller footprint and extract fewer resources from the environment. Pie in the Sky (9/20/2007)

In cooperation with SustainableTable.org, Spokane County Extension and Slow Food Spokane River, Greenstone helped sponsor a community outing on Monday, August 13th at Liberty Lake’s Pavillion Park. With a goal of supporting and raising visibility about local foods and food producers, the event used PIE as a theme and had a local producer fruit market, local pie bakers, a pie-crust making demo and live music as background to the pie walks (like the good old-fashioned cake walk). It was a great time for hundreds of people in the community and we hope to make it an annual tradition!

The fertilizer is being provided in partnership by Greenstone Homes, the Lands Council and the Liberty Lake Sewer and Water District to help protect the water quality of Liberty Lake and its watershed.

Liberty Lake Farmers’ Market Extends 2007 Season (9/20/2007)

Greenstone Homes & Neighborhoods founded and still sponsors the Liberty Lake Farmers’ Market as part of our belief that access to healthy, local, fresh foods is an important component of a healthy community. Due to growth in the number of farmers this year, the Market vendors decided to extend the season through October 13th. Our Rocky Hill, Villas, Big Trout Lodge, Meadowwood and River District residents are a short walk or bike ride away from the luxury of knowing the farmer who grew their food. The tricky part of ped-commuting is figuring out how to get all the delicious food and quality crafts home! www.spokanemarkets.org Click here for SpokaneMarkets.org .

Continued Progress Toward Green Building Standards (9/20/2007)

Greenstone Homes & Neighborhoods employee, Ben Deibel, has been instrumental in establishing a Spokane chapter of BuiltGreen™ Washington. One of a number of such groups around the country, BuiltGreen™ promotes more sustainable development and building techniques throughout the home construction industry, from appliances to non-toxic landscaping lumber to groundwater management. A comprehensive checklist keeps the process transparent and objective. Greenstone has long followed many of these practices and through the BuiltGreen™ process has recently officially certified homes in our River District and Couer d’Alene Place neighbhorhoods… more to come! Ben continues his commitment to these practices in the housing industry as a recently appointed member of the local Board. Greenstone Donates Majestic Bear Sculpture To The City of Coeur d' Alene

A life-sized majestic Bear sculpture was recently purchased by Greenstone and has been donated to the City of Coeur d' Alene and its public art movement. On June 6th the Bear is moved to its permanent home in the Coeur d' Alene Place neighborhood at the Hanley and Cornwall round about. The Bear was imagined and created by Bill Orhrmann, a retired cattle rancher and life-long artist known for his wood carvings, and sculptures of various animals and wildlife. Each of his pieces has a heart inside, visible through a spring-hinged panel.
